Title:
An employee claims he has been randomly selected too many times!
Body:
Just by the random nature of these selections, some participants will be selected by the computer more than once a year, while others may go longer than one year before being selected. The fact that anyone can be tested on any day makes random testing an effective deterrent. The SNAP program tests at a 100% random rate, so being tested once a year is only average.
If you feel that someone has been overly “unlucky” in being selected, the Designated Employer Representative (DER) can always confirm the number of selections by reviewing the “all” selection list online, and/or notify SNAP and we will investigate…however, once you notify a worker he has been selected, he must complete the collection process within 24 hours.
A worker who has been recently using drugs may make some complaint about the testing process in an effort to delay the collection for a day or two in order for the drugs to clear out of his system.
You should also be aware that workers who have been returned to duty after a positive test must complete a minimum of four (4) extra follow-up tests a year for two years. Because of confidentiality restraints these additional tests appear as “random” selections along with the company's regular random selections.
